Steroids, Schmeroids

Stick this in your pipe and smoke it. So Man-Ram, and Big Papi were outed today as steroid users. Whoopdie Doo. Who cares?? I loathe the Boston Red Sux, and I dont even care about this story. Everyone took steroids back in the day, its nothing out of the ordinary. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Here is my take. Notice when all these names come out?? Arod comes out right before the season. Talked about that forever, now Papi, and Manny come out on the same day that NFL teams are reporting to training camps? Its nice MLB and others are strategically releasing these names to stay in the limelight. Right? Anyone agree? How come these names didnt come out 2 weeks ago? Wouldnt it be weird if another name comes out the eve of the week 1 season?

That's all for now.

Somethings missing...

Every single player on the New York Jets had their permission slips signed to attened day one of training camp today. That is except for one. One very small player in stature, but as big as they come in the NFL when it comes to play making ability. Leon Washington is officially a hold out. He's due a little over 500k this year, and is looking for 6 million according to his agent. Thats really not THAT bad when you think about it, it's ONLY a rasie a little over 1000%. In todays world where the average raise this year for the american worker has been FIRED, I can totally understand his demands. Listen L. we need you, and you need us. Sign for somewhere in the middle, and lets get things going this season.

Slowly but Surely

As many of you read our articles on here, you wonder to yourself "Are these guys celebrities yet?". The answer is no, but we are making our way up the ranks. Today, our friend James Parziale brings you another piece of pie, with his summer essay series written in the NY Daily News. Yes it's a step below our site here, but to each their own. Here is the link, and there is a picture of the 2 of us back in the day. Obviously, I am the better looking one.
Enjoy!

"It brings joy out of people to knock someone down."

ESPN columnist Bill Simmons wrote an interesting article about Detroit Pistons guard Allen Iverson recently and I agree 10000000%.

Iverson has been my favorite player the day he stepped foot int the league. Without a doubt, the most prolific scorer, and arguably one of the hardest working and greatest offensive player to play the game. Yes, he has had his troubles through out his life. But hey, nobody is perfect. It also seems like the media only shows the negative side of the Answer. Peep Bill's article at the bottom of the post, and catch the video of him giving a speech for his scholorship program.

So, A.I. is a free agent in this offseason. I can't imagine how pumped I'd be to see him rockin orange and blue. Make it fuckin happen Donnie!

-Jumpoff J

To Iverson. The general consensus: His career as an effective player is over. How did we reach that conclusion? I have no idea. He averaged nearly 27 a game two seasons ago in Denver. Denver traded him to a declining Detroit team soon after opening night, where he was forced to play in a new system for a bad coach, and GM Joe Dumars soon made it clear Detroit traded for Iverson's expiring contract (and not Iverson himself). When the situation inevitably self-combusted and they asked Iverson to come off the bench, he "coincidentally" came down with a back injury and that was that. Meanwhile, Billups turned Denver around, enabling people to stupidly make the connection that Billups was wonderful and Iverson was the anti-Christ. Now everyone is afraid to sign him.

My first question: If we're writing off Iverson for the previous paragraph, why aren't we writing off Rasheed -- just as enigmatic, just as much of a volcano, just as much of a coach killer over the years -- when Sheed played worse than Iverson did last season?

My second question: Since when was it a good idea to bet against Iverson? Name another NBA player who overcame more obstacles over the years. For ESPN's "30 For 30" documentary series that premieres this fall, one of the first films is called "The Trial of Allen Iverson" (directed by Steve James of "Hoop Dreams" fame). I have only seen a rough cut. It has a chance to become one of the most important sports documentaries ever. Why? Because you will never think of Iverson the same way again. You will like him. You will feel bad for him. You will connect with him. You will admire him in a way that you never imagined. After witnessing what he endured legally and racially -- how unfair it was, how un-American it was -- and marveling at the dignity he showed as he put his life back together afterward, I promise, you will never bet against this guy.

A few weeks ago, Iverson gave a speech in Virginia to promote his scholarship program. It was one of the best three minutes of the sports year. You probably didn't hear about it because the sports media and the blogosphere is more interested in talking about Brett Favre, Michael Vick, civil suits, how ESPN is the devil and everything else. Occasionally, some relevant stuff slips through the cracks. Like this clip, for instance. Please watch it, then tell me why everyone is so willing to count out one of the best 30 basketball players of all time, as well as one of the greatest pure athletes in the history of sports, at the tender age of 34 when he has something to prove. We have not heard the last from him. Just wait.

Goodbye Meadowlands

So B Silv and I were talking about the Jets as always and the topic of the final year of the meadowlands came up. All of a sudden all the great memories ive had at the stadium came to mind. Ive seen some of the greatest player who have ever played the game. Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Warren Moon, Emmitt Smith, Bruce Smith, Dan Marino, John Elway, Steve Young, Eric Dickerson, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Barry Sanders….the list goes on and on. Since the Jets were so bad when I was growing up I got so excited to see these players live.

As I go older I appreciated the games more and more and have some amazing moments and games stick out in mind. Here in no particular order are some of the greatest games I witnessed in the stadium.

1) Dan Marino’s infamous fake spike

2) Vinny Testeverde’s phantom touchdown vs. Seattle…..this was the loudest Ive ever heard the stadium…it was literally shaking

3) 1998 playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars

4) Jets beat the Packers as they get into the playoffs as the Dolphins beat the Patriots in overtime in 2002….crazy atmosphere

5) one week after the jets destroy the Packers to make the playoffs they dominate Peyton Manning and the Colts 41-0

6) 6-3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts back in 1992….the first bad weather game that I can remember

I know that’s not many games but then again the Jets have had some pretty horrible season including a 3-13 season and the famous 1-15 year which the one win came on the road. Shout out to my boy Adrian Murrell who gained over 1,000 yards that 1-15 season and I think is only one of two players to achieve that.

As the final season in the Meadowlands is about to begin, Im looking forward to more great moments.

Happy Bday Arod

Alexander Emanuel Rodriguez turned 34 years young today. From ALL of us at efyousports.blogspot.com, we want to extend our well wishes to the best baseball player to ever grace this planet earth.

He has addressed the haters this year, as well as the under-estimators. He rode up em like they escalators. Since his return, the Yankees have the best record in baseball, they are in first place, and he has some of the best stats since his return. People can hate all they want. As they say, ignorance is bliss right?

NFL: 09-10 Season: The Michael Vick Experience?

Early this afternoon, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback was "partially" reinstated to the NFL by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Where he'll be playing is the next question.

Vick, who recently served an 18 month prison term for running and funding a dogfighting ring in his Newport News home will be able to participate in preseason workouts, practices and meetings and the final two games of the preseason. But he'll most likely have to serve a four-six game suspension and like I said early, will need a team to sign him first.

Honestly, I couldn't be happier with Vick's return. Arguably, the most exciting player to watch during his career, Vick basically had the NFL at the palm of his hands. Hundred Million dollar contract, and poster boy status for sporting giant Nike before his career took a drastic turn for the worse. I still believe that the suspension is a bit harsh. I mean, the dude going bankrupt, and spending almost two years in prison isn't enough punishment? Everyone deserves a second a chance. Kobe got one. Pacman Jones got one. Why should Michael be the exception?

What's driving me crazy is that PETA will have their on deck ready to act on the team that decides to take a chance on Vick. Do not get me wrong. What Vick did was absolutley disgusting. But PETA, and extremist agenda is a bit OD. They're going to make dudes life a living hell no matter what dude does and wherever he goes. So fuck off PETA.

So it's a toss up for who I want to make a successful come back. Michael Vick or Kimbo Slice. I'd be happy with either one, but I'm pulling for my dude Vick. I been rolling with dude his whole career and I'm not going to turn my back on him. SOMEONE SIGN THIS MAN!

A Clean Slate!!!!!

Got a call friday afternoon from my mom, she tells me that the Jets sent me a package, and she thinks its the tickets for the upcoming season. So I go the Yankee game, go to H-Bomb's party in the city, and finally reach home. To my delight, it was my tickets, and I was excited.

This is the last season in Giants Stadium, for the Jets and Giants. As it stands right now, the Jets have the last regular season home game there, barring playoffs for the Giants, the Jets will close out the stadium. That's not important to me at all though. I want the Jets in the playoffs. I also want them hosting a playoff game.

Rex Ryan comes to town, brings over Jim Leonhard, and Bart Scott, I am pumped for this defense, as well as Sanchez taking over under center. The sky is the limit for this team, and August 14th marks the start of last hoorah for us all.

11-5 is my prediction.

NUHHHH LINGAAAAAA!

Hopefully it's not true, but ya'll know damn well you folks wouldn't care if it were/weren't Usain the Insane. Bolt and Powell test positive? We'll wait and see.

RJR Sports understands that at least two of the nation's top sprinters have tested positive for a banned substance.

It is believed the sprinters who tested positive at a local meet held recently and were selected for Jamaica's team to the Berlin
World Championships in August.

Local governing body the JAAA is expected to make further announcements pending notification of the athletes.

Finally Witnessed!

The tape is out. Jordan Crawford dunked on King James. Who cares. Lebron has dunked on everyone, Lebron is a millionaire, Lebron is straight rollin'. People get dunked on all the time, its not really a big deal to me. I am surprised Nike would even go to such lengths to try and keep this tape off the market. Do people really think this is going to hurt the best basketball player in the worlds image? I would hope not. This has created such a media buzz, that Nike is probably loving this. It creates so much attention for the King, and the company. In the end, who would you rather be, Jordan CrawfordAdd Image, or Lebron James? Point and Case, end of story

It's always nice to have a celebrity blogger every now and than. This blogger is a dear friend of mine. He doesnt really like the other 2, so he wanted me to post it up. It is almost that time of year again…..FOOTBALL SEASON. Something inside me just turns on at this time of the year. I look forward to ESPN showing every team’s season highlights from the previous season (and on a little side note, after watching those you feel like every team went 16-0. I don’t know how they do it). Training camps are about to start. The Hall of Fame game, which is the official sign for me that football season has begun is about to be played. I start looking forward to watching college football on Saturdays. To me, college football is a warm up to the greatest day of the week…..SUNDAY. I want the weather to start changing, the leaves to start falling. Every time I walk by a barbeque the first thing that comes to mind is tailgating in Lot 16 B.

This excitement that I have is for football, but more for my favorite team. The team I bleed for…the NEW YORK JETS. My first game was way back in 1989 vs. the New England Patriots. For those that don’t remember the quarterback matchup that day was Ken O’Brien vs. Tony Eason. I was five years old. This season will mark my 20th season going to Jets games. Just like that sunny Sunday afternoon in 1989, the Jets first home game is against those same New England Patriots. And like every year, I am dreaming for a Super Bowl win. I also know that no matter what the team’s record is, I will be watching and cheering like every game is the Super Bowl. Sound Crazy? Maybe. But we Jets fans have to be. Just ask Bri guy and Easy E. But that’s ok. We pour our hearts into this team because that’s the only way you can feel the true reward of your team winning as a fan. Ask any of us and we will tell you the Jets are winning the Super Bowl. You can WriteThatDown!!!

So as the Jets start their 2009 run to a Super Bowl title. All I have to say is……

As football season approaches, I get all tingly inside. My Jets season tickets should be arriving in the mail anyday now, I received our group tickets for Jets vs. New Orleans in NoLa, for October today, and D-Day is now only 36 hours away. Its all coming full swing, and i'm ready to go yard.

I am thinking to myself, "Brian, why are you so fucking crazy about the Jets?". The answer is really unknown. I started going to games when I was really young with my Dad, Uncle, and Cousin, and I have never looked back. My first game was in 1993, and the Cowboys absolutely smoked the Jets, who knew that this would be the start of something so painful down the road. Now we are here, 16 years later, Jets have had 2 home playoff games, and have not made it to the super bowl.

I have literally cried every season with the Jets, whether its losing 3 straight games to end the season (Lions, Raiders, Ravens), Doug effin Brien missing 2 fucking field goals in Sixburgh, or a monumental collapse (aka "a mets") to end the season 1-4 after going 8-3, and being in first place. Remember when Wayne Chrebet fumbled in Chicago? It wasnt even in Chicago, it was Champaigne, Illinois. Way to go Wayne, jump up, and dont protect the football. GREAT MOVE. DICK. I am going to stop, I am getting way too emotional right now.

My friends and I go on road trips every year. Its sort of like the annual now. Mikey Fellz started it off with me in Baltimore a few years ago, we did up Tennessee last year (thanks for the football hollywood.. Rizpek), and this year, we killen' it in New Orleans. I have to think to myself though, are these really my friends? Who in their right mind lets their "friend" travel such great distances for a team that has no return? Are they my friends? No.. They are my GOOD FRIENDS.

I will always be a Jets fan, win, lose, or draw. Meeting the Feller's at Pizza Hut in the morning, hoping in the windstar, talking about how we are going to blow the game on this certain Sunday , Parking in Lot 16B, taking out the grill, cooking up some food, than walking over to meet the Klein's, its what I do. For 8 Sundays a year, I have a routine that doesnt change. Its in my blood. I have a slogan and and I will live by it. "You cant have the sweet, without the sour." Well, i've had plently of sour, the sweet is on its way. This season the Jets are going 16-0, and 3-0 in the post season. We win ugly, We win pretty, We just Win. I feel it this year. This is our year.

Jordan Brand Appreciation : What is Love?

For the people who wonder why Nike/Jordan Brand has the sneaker game/ sports market by the ball sack, please observe. Sure, it helps to have arguably the greatest basketball to ever live be the face of your company. But damn man, the Nike/Jumpman marketing team is fucking amazing! These commercials give me the chills. Maybe it's because I was blessed to be able to witness such greatness? Who knows? I'm just glad to have lived it.

The Hotness...

I'm sure you've all heard by now that the hottest thing in sports, (no I'm not talking about the Lions GM seat) Erin Andrews has "leaked". For those of you living under a rock, there is about a 4 minute and 57 second video (but whose counting) of Princess Sideline naked getting ready in her hotel room. At least 33% of the trio thinks that this will ruin her image as a sideline reporter, which I couldnt disagree with more. When I see E.A. on the sidelines my brains goes into mute mode, so that my eyes can take more in. Erin I'm sure is a millionaire because of her good looks, and you know what they say...any publicity is good publicity.

Here is to you Erin Andrews...law suit or not....one things for sure...you're hot.

Looks Can Be Deceiving...

As I look back on my wonderful college years, I think about all the fun basketball games I went to. There was a time where Hofstra Basketball was one of the top 40 in the country. They had beaten George Mason twice in 11 days. That year, Mason went on to the Final 4, ousting, Michigan State, North Carolina, Wichita State, and UConn.. Heard of em?

That Hofstra team had character. Loren Stokes, Antoine Agudio, Carlos Rivera, and Adrian Uter were all fan favorites. At little ol' Hofstra University on Lawn Guyland harbored a team that was loved by the masses. These guys walked on campus with a certain swagger to them, people knew who they were, what they did, and how many points they scored last night. The sad part about this story is thats where it ends. Hofstra got snubbed, and our favorite players were going, going, goneee.. I will miss you guys.

Here is the funny part....

Across Hempstead Turnpike, we had crappy James M. Shuart Stadium. This stadium housed a mediocre at best football team that no one, and I mean no one cared about. We went to the games drunk, got free t-shirts, and left by halftime. This team had no character, and I couldnt name 20 people on the team. I still cant, but I can tell ya 2 of em. Marques Colston, aka King Colston, and Super Bowl starting offensive lineman Willie Colon. Willie appeared at the ESPY's last night, and Colston has been doing his thang for the past 3 years in NoLa. Good for you guys, sorry I missed ya at school.

I find it wierd how awesome it was going to basketball games and knowing every player, as opposed to going to football games and not knowing anyone, nor our record. Fast forward, Hofstra football really outshined Hofstra basketball in the spotlight, and I am happy to root for these guys, cept Marques in week 4.

With Pride,
-Brian

Shut The EF Up Brett

Holy shoot, every sports media outlet is allllllllll over Brett Favre for some unknown reason. Honestly, who cares. Favre is coming back. He will play for the Vikings. He will suck. End of story.

For real though, why should we care? He ended last season on a sour note, and is now 1 year older. No joke, he played with Coles, and Cotch in NY. Now he has Sidney Rice, Bernard Berrian, and Percy Harvin. LAWL. All receivers are mediocre at best. These receivers arent Antonio Freeman, or Donald Driver. They're mid rate receivers at best, catching passes from an old ass QB.

Moving forward, can all this Favre talk stop? When the Packers come to town, and when Brett goes to Green Bay, it shouldnt be a big deal. He is old and washed up, and will have no impact on this years NFL season. Water under the bridge. See: Roger Clemens coming back for the 3rd time, or see, Pedro Martinez upcoming starts with the Phillies.

EF YOU BRETT

Shawn Merriman vs. Rob Kardashian vol. Twitter Beef

Before you start calling me gay and shit for even having twitter, I want to let you all know that it is used for keeping tabs on various sports figures (such as Eddy Curry) and getting the latest news on what's poppin in sports.

So, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawn "Lights Out" Merriman has engaged in a verbal "tweet" battle with Kim Kardashian's (Reggie Bush's beat piece) brother Rob Kardashian. The drama escalated over reality TV star and celebrity tweeter Tila Tequila, and a three way Twitter love triangle is born!

For all you non-twitter fans, you'll see that it's been translated somewhat so that you're able to follow.

Rob to Shawn:@shawnemerriman Stop messin with my girl @officialTila! I really did NOT want to twitter blast you like this but damn... hold off my girl!
Shawn to Rob:
@RobKardashian you about to see my LightsOut dance up close and personal
Rob to Shawn: I will have @ShaunPhillips95 tackle @shawnemerriman then I will sit on you @officialTila! Just tell @shawnemerriman to back off before I do!
Rob to Tila:
@officialTila Baby you don't need to be scared no more... I will take care of that big monster @shawnemerriman
Rob to Tila:Maybe you shud tell your "baby" @shawnemerrimen about @souljaboytellem and me @RobKardashian! You have been tryin to get with us for ages!!!

Tila Twitters on the situation::
I think little boys like @RobKardashian need to fall the !!@@ back off me! Quit tryna holla at me on twitter....#notagoodlook rob! =P

#notagoodlook @robkardashian tryin 2 holla at me, then failed, so now he's upset and getting emotional on twitter....smh

See? That is why I dont !!@@ with LITTLE BOYS like @RobKardashian he wants me, can't have me, so they act like a baby. GROW SOME BALLS ROB!

@RobKardashian is that a bribe to get me to hang out with you? Im not into anything that has to do with "balls."

Actually I change my mind.please do not try to holla at me unless you are at least 30 years or older. I like GENTLEMEN WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE!

ok....look at all these lil boys twitter fighting over me....#notagoodlook....Im OUT SON! Gotta go make that $$$$ honey! Lataz
So, there you have it folks. When Lights Out isn't taking HGH in the ass, or working hard in training this off-season, he's busy taking jabs at siblings of D-List celebrities. I'm sorry for turning this into Perez Hilton folks, I'm just still bitter this juiced up fuckface totally served up my fantasy squad last season.

Peace out haters.

D-Day = T-minus 10 days

Today is July 14th. According to my Math Regents Diploma (shout out to Curtis H.S.) 10 days from now is July 24th. What is so special about this day you ask? It's the day that 66% of the trio finds out about their future at The New Meadowlands. It's Jets season ticket call day, and when it's all said and done it's probably drop $4,000 on a PSL day. Regardless of how shitty this team is year after year, the true fans (like the trio) show up game after game. Here's to an eternal 7-9 season. J-E-T-S.

Swing and a Miss

Did anyone watch last night’s Home Run Derby? I watched some of it, not going to lie, it was awful. I was literally falling asleep. No joke, if I didn’t have 30 wings last night, and felt like my stomach was going to explode I wouldn’t have seen it, nor would have been upset about it.

What is the big deal? A HOME RUN hitter hits a HOME RUN? WOOOOOW, I have never seen that before. SIIIIIIIIIKE. You’re telling me that Albert Pujols is getting meatballs grooved to him, and all he has to do is hit it over some fencing set up in the outfield? Not impressed. They should have AAA pitchers throwing cheese at em, and make them work for that homer. Another rule they should have would be to not allow anyone named Brandon Inge in a competition like this. No joke, that is like having Felix Potvin in the hardest shot competition, or Pat Riley in the dunk contest? WTF is that crap? Brandon Inge? Excuse me, while I change the channel.

I hope MLB reads this, and next year spices up the competition. Honestly, I don’t even want credit if it’s done, I blog for the good of the people, not for personal pleasure.

Peace Out

But I know in time we’ll find this was no surprise…

What’s up guys, it’s Joe back again, following up on the UFC 100 fight which occurred last night. And all I can say is, ehhh. Honestly I liked the cards, but a lot of the fights I expected a little more out of these fights. Although I have to say, if you refer to my blog last week, and my predictions. Not to toot my own horn a-la Brian or anything, but I was 3 for 3 with winners, 2 for 3 in absolute results, my only miscue I couldn’t be happier about, Dan Henderson absolutely KO’ed Michael “Down for the Count” Bisping with a great overhand right hand in the 2nd round, not the 3rd. Ok, so sue me.

The fights overall were good, I expected a little more out of the GSP fight, Thiago “The Pitbull” Alves fought more like a Maltese than a Pitbull. There was no fighting back whatsoever by Alves. I really thought this could have been a knock down drag out. But GSP controlled the fight, wrestling Alves down to the ground at will, taking him down, scoring points, avoiding damage. It was the perfect fight for GSP to dominate.

The other main event of the evening was Brock Lesnar against Frank Mir. I gotta say, I expected more out of Lesnar. I know Lesnar’s a dominant opponent, and a great mixed martial artist, he’s a great striker and wrestler, and will only get better. But what a jerkoff. Is he kidding me with what he did after the fight? He’s not in the wwe anymore, and he really needs to realize it. He pissed off sponsors, he snuffed Mir with a classless gesture where he didn’t even touch gloves, he taunted Mir after the fight. It really was a disgusting display. Then show him slobbering into the camera and he’s really batting 1.000. You won, get over it, shake the other guys hand like every other fighter in UFC, and get on with your life. And by the way, congratulations, you’re 1 and 1 against him. .500, about the same level as the Mets on a good week. I only hope to God that Mir finds a way to kick your ass.

Overall analysis, my predictions were pretty good, and the whole event was pretty Epic. Glad to see UFC take off like this, and I only hope either Frank Mir, or any new Heavyweight can take out Brock Lesnar.

A 101 blog to come soon…

Joba is HUGhEs Mistake

So after another Joba Chamberlain start, yankee fans are in uproar. As we currently sit in second place in the standing, we only have 1 person to blame for it. Joba Chamberlain. This dude is not a starter.

Joba went 4.2 innings last night and allowed 5 runs to score. Granted our bullpen shit the bed last night, but still, A starter goes more than 5 innings, and doesnt usually suck like this.

Phil Hughes has been our anchorman in the bullpen and he is straight dealing this season. Does anyone remember when Joba was in the bullpen? He had t-shirts, and the attention of EVERYONE. He was a scary guy, throwing 99 miles an hour, and striking people out left and right. Can he go back? For the good of yankee fans, please put Joba in the pen. Phil Hughes can start in his place, cause he has certainly earned that opportunity.

EA Takes It On The Chin!

So Wednesday night, July 8th 2009, is a day EA Erin Andrews would like to forget. She was doing some sideline work at the Mets/Dodgers game and was struck on the chin by an Alex Cora foul ball. The headlines that come from this story are priceless. Oh how the Tremendous Trio love Erin Andrews.

She was released from the hospital soon after arriving, it was just precautionary measure. She will be back and ready to roll at the All Star Game next week. Being a sideline reporter aint easy. Just ask JJ Redick.
Get Well Soon

Fever Pitch

While the preseason is near in football, baseball is at the halfway point. The Yankees are now tied for first in the AL East, and are tied for the 2nd best record in baseball, behind Mannywood and the Dodgers.

Where did this all come from? The Yankees have been the streakiest team in baseball this year, but I love it. Burnett and CC are seriously throwing it down right now. Our 'pen is clicking on all cylinders, and our hitting is literally offensive to others, we stay hitting.

Boston was up as much as 5 games two weeks ago, and heading into the last weekend before the All Star Game, we are now tied. Its a great feeling considering we lost all 9 games to the Sawx this year. Imagine we won 4? 4 games up, woulda been nice.

Setting the Pace??

So last friday, the Jets learned the fate of one of their most promising linebackers. SUSPENDED. Calvin Pace was tested, and results were positive for Team Enhancing Drugs aka TED's. Roger Goodell chose to suspend him 4 games w/out pay. 4 games is a quarter of the season.. Wtf rog? Throw em a bone here. Pace was the heat last year as he pressured the qb, and was probably the Jets best linebacker. He will be missed.

UFC-Note

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS….

What’s up guys, most of you aren’t going to know me, I’m Joe, a long-time follower of the efyousports blog. You guys don’t hear from me all that much because let’s face it, I don’t agree with some of the posts as I’m a Yankee fan – more specifically a Jeter fan/A-Rod hater, a Ranger fan, and I didn’t go to Hofstra. But one thing we all can agree on is that this weekend’s UFC 100 is going to be EPIC!!!!

The “Main Card” includes the following 3 matches: Michael “The Count” Bisping against Dan Henderson – the Ultimate Fighter Coaches from this past season of US vs. UK. The Welterweight title matchup between Georges “Rush” St. Pierre against 2008 MMA fighter of the year Thiago Alves. And last but not least, the highly anticipated Heavyweight title matchup between Interim Champion Frank Mir, and Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. I’ll break down each fight, predict a winner etc.

Bisping vs. Henderson

Let me say, as an avid MMA fan and fan of the reality series “The Ultimate Fighter”, I have to say, I hope to God that Henderson wipes the floor with Bisping. Bisping was the biggest cry-baby since Sidney Crosby on that show. I was hoping him and Damarques Johnson (The only USA Representative in the finals) would get into a parking lot brawl and Bisping would get roughed up. Bisping got to a point where he actually squirted water on Johnson as he’s walking by, just to be a dick. Then you throw in my USA bias, and yes Henderson should win. But here are the facts, Bisping is younger, a natural 185 fighter, and has tremendous striking and ground and pound game. Henderson has a great overhand right hand, a great wrestling game, and is probably one of the toughest guys to knock out in all of UFC. He’s proven time and time again in either PrideFC or UFC to have one of the greatest chins in history. It’s a classic case of old lion vs. young lion, with the piece of meat being a title shot at Anderson Silva at or around UFC 104-105.

Prediction: Henderson with experience – 3rd round TKO

St. Pierre vs. Alves.

Anyone who knows UFC knows GSP is probably the best all around athlete in the whole game. He’s insanely strong for 170 lbs, great striker, excellent Jiu-Jitsu, Good Muay Thai game, GSP may be the most all-around MIXED martial artist in the game today. People tend to discount Alves though. Alves is the best Muay Thai striker with knees and elbows in the game. Alves does have good punching power, good kicks, and a decent ground game. I think though if this fight goes to the ground repeatedly, GSP will score enough points down there. Watch out though, this could steal the entire show.

Prediction: GSP – 5th round decision

Lesnar vs. Mir

This is the main event, and probably anyone reading this has been waiting for this one for a long time. For those new to the UFC, these 2 fought last year, with Lesnar pummeling Mir on the ground until Mir was able to spot an opening through the barrage of hammer fists to the head, where Mir grabbed Lesnar’s leg and forcefully forced him into a leg-lock and earned a submission victory over the big man.

Let’s be honest, Lesnar is the most dangerous man in the game. He walks around at 295 lbs, drops to 265 to fight. He’s insanely fast, and athletic, and with one of the strongest wrestling backgrounds in the game, he’s nearly impossible to beat. And if you don’t believe how athletic that guy is, watch him do a shooting star press off the top rope in a pro-wrestling match, and in the same sport, pick up a man over 400 lbs, throw him across his shoulders and completely toss him straight up in the air and drop him like a ton of bricks. And ask former Light-Heavyweight and Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, Lesnar punches harder than anyone in the UFC.

Mir’s a big guy, fight weight around 255, with vastly improved striking (as displayed against Pride/UFC Great Antonio Minotauro Nogueira), and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (See previous Lesnar fight, and fight where Tim Sylvia’s arm was snapped in half). However, Mir’s conditioning in the past has been suspect, and he has a chin which has been knocked out before. However he has the dynamic of being able to turn a fight around in a heartbeat. I’d love to see Mir take this one, but unfortunately, I don’t see him being able to fight off another Brock Barrage.

Prediction: Lesnar – 2nd round TKO

Overall Prediction: EPIC card, EPIC night, watch this fight, go to a bar that has it if you have to, beg your rich friend to order it, stream it if you have to, just find a way to watch this event as it will be the JUMPOFF!
