With The First Pick.....

Everyones favorite time of year is upon us. Its the effin summer guys and gals. Let's get it going. With that being said, Fantasy Football drafts are approaching. Today, in my Yahoo! inbox, I received a message from the place the FFL purchased their Draft Kit from last year. This type of stuff gets me tingly inside. It's like an Abram Elam strip sack, recovered by Shaun Eliis for a Touchdown type feeling. Can you dig it? Whose going number 1? Whose going to win it all? For more information on Fantasy please check back, as I am the reigning champion of the league. Also, we are looking to add teams to the league as well. In person draft. Come 1, come all. For more info, please email us at efyousports@gmail.com

WriteThatDown Update...

As many of our loyal followers are aware, the Trio is part owner in 2 year old race horse WriteThatDown.

He's doing his thing at Monmouth Park getting fit over the summer to impress the fillies, and maybe even have a race or two.

I stopped by the stable the other day, and our boy was kickin some serious G to a 2 year old filly. He introduced her to me as his owner.

On the real...WriteThatDown is weather permitting going to be working out again tomorrow morning, and in his last workout ran 3/8th of a mile if 35 seconds flat (the 2nd fastest time of any horse to run 3/8th of mile at Monmouth Park that day).

It's still early in his career, but so far the Trio, et al are happy with their investment.
Thats WriteThatDown as a little baby, and then 2 years later almost all grown up.

Tell Em' Why You Mad Son Vol. Benedict Arnold

The United States had lost a heart breaker this past Sunday in a thriller against Football powerhouse Brazil 3-2 in the Confederation Cup Final. an early strike by Clint Dempsey and a goal by Lando carried the U.S. after the first half with a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the sporting Gods strike again and continue to make the lives of the trio miserable when Brazil rallied in the second half of regulation scoring three goals, and winning the Cup final 3-2.

But to be honest, I'm not even mad that the U.S. lost. Disappointed? Yes. But I'm a realist. I was hopeful that U.S. would steal the show. But I knew the reality of things. It's good to see that the U.S. is progressing and showing some glimpses of greatness. Congrats to you gentlemen.

What irks me is the lack of support "Americans" show for their country. I have a friend whom actually cheered for Brazil National team to win this match, and continued to be a dickhead after the Americans lost the match. Now 99.8% of the time I can give two shits to whatever team anybody cheers for. I know who my squads are and will show my loyalty until I'm six feet under. (Knicks, Mets, Giants, Arsenal, Rangers, Hofstra, etc.) And I won't front. I cheer for other teams to, just as long as they're not playing my team. As long as they're not facing any of the given teams above, I think it's fair game.

But it's different when the competition is brought on to an international stage. As an American, no matter what it is, basketball, baseball, soccer, track and field, swimming, professional jerking off, etc., you will always see me showing support for the red, white, and blue. And it bothers me to see people reap the benefits of being an American and pledging their support to another country. If you're willingly going to support another country because you "hate" the U.S., say that we suck, etc. go fucking live somewhere else. The athletes are here to bring some pride and glory for our country and the last thing they need is for their own people to be against them. It's basically a slap in the face to your own country when people are out there jeering, calling American athletes failures, etc.

You might think I'm taking it a bit overboard, and I can relate to those who say they're showing support for their culture/heritage. Keep in mind folks, I am of Chinese descent, and I am very proud of my hertiage and people. But then again, I was born and raised in American born Chinese, and American citizen. Therefore, my allegiance and support will be for U.S., even if they're facing China PR.

That's my little rant for the day. K-Rod just walked in a fucking run to Mariano Rivera and the Yankees just swept the subway series at Shea. I'm done for the night.

Peace out haters. USA!

Futbollllllllllllllll

USA takes on Brazil today in the Confederation Cupi Final. Isnt that nuts? I am not big of a soccer fan, and not jumping on bandwagons, but I am obviously interested in the game, and rooting for the USandA. From what I was told before the Espana game, we got really lucky to even advance to that game, and this is basically a free run for us. So why not do it up America? Lets put our name on the Soccer map.

So good luck Lando, Clint x2, Timmy H (North Brunswick, NJ's Finest), Carlos B, and my main man, Oguchi Onyewu. There are other players, and I know most of their names, but I am not going to type them out.

My Gut 2-1 Brazil
My Heart 19-0 USA.

Yankee Rant #11

As CC took the bump, the Mets took the fall. Another outstanding performance for Carsten Charles Sabathia. 7.1 IP, 1 er, and 8k's I think, I aint looking it up. End result Yankees 9 Metropolitans 1. How did we get there you ask?

The Mets must have taken defensive lessons from the C squad at the JCC Little League complex this past week. They were attrocious in the field, committing 3 errors in 1 inning (lol, literally). The Yanks jumped all over that. This isnt a game recap or anything, since its whatever, another day, another yankee win. Holla.

It just seems so apparent to me that Swisher, and Posada are the reasons we cant hit. Also, when Alexander Emanuel Rodriguez is on, this team GOES. Alex was slumping hardcore, but when Tony Pena told him to wake up, that he did. He has been on base his last 11 out of 13 plate appearances I think, and the Yanks have scored 8 runs or more in their last 3 games. Coincidence? Nah.

Cervelli catches today, and obviously CC throws lights out, and even gets an RBI to boot. I dont know what it is, but there is something that Cervelli does, that makes pitchers seem excellent. Don't get me wrong, CC is the man with or without him, but his numbers, just like every other yankee pitcher are better with Francisco behind the plate. I think this needs to be more of a trend here. Cervelli catches 4-5 times a week IMO. Next Victim:

Nick Swisher. You are trash. Yes, you are "silly" but, who cares. Its better to win and not have much fun, than to lose, and laugh like you're a moron. Jumping on the wall is funny, but its way funnier when you're hitting .290.

WangSTAR should have gotten a win, but he had to throw to Posada last game. Had a great outing, didnt get the win. As a favorite announcer of mine would say "dems da breaks" (bonus points for whoever can answer me that). Email us.

Go Yanks

You Got Parziale'd

Since all of James' friends and coworkers love our site, I decided to do him a favor and post another piece of work from him. Enjoy. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more_sports/2009/06/23/2009-06-23_a_second_shot_at_bethpage_black.html

Yes, Its about the US Open Golf Tourney, and no its not a sport, but it's a good read.

QUACK QUACK QUACK!

Oregon Football unveiled this afternoon their new on-the-field uniforms for the 2009 season. Two years ago, the Ducks had over 384 game-day choices. Kind of funny how Oregon has more uniforms than wins in the programs history... Anyway, the uniforms don't look too bad. The carbon fiber helmets are ballin outrageous! Could have lived without the wings/feathers as well. A little to fugazi and Affliction like for me. We all know only douchebags where Affliction.

He's Backkkkkkkkk!

Well, kind of. His minor league jumpoff goes down tonight!

USA vs. ESPANA

The US had an almost impossible outcome on Sunday to advance to the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup in South Africa. As a warm up to next summers World cup, the US didnt look so good losing to Italy 3-1 and Brasil 3-0 in its first two games. Heading into the final game of the group round, the US needed to beat Egypt by 3+ goals, and have Italy lose by 3 goals (I believe w/o scoring also). Final scores: USA 3 Egypt 0 and Brasil 3 Italy 0.

This put the US through, their prize? Only the #1 ranked team in the world...Spain (a country yours truly will be visiting this summer). Fernando Torres, and David Villa to name a few will be a HANDFUL for the Americans.

The old saying in sports is that no game is won on paper, and for the US thats a good thing. They will need to play out of their minds and have a little luck if they are to beat the Spanish.

The game will take place tomorrow at 2:30pm Eastern Standard Time.

Predictions:

Brain: Spain 3 USA 0
Heart USA 2 Spain 1

Bring it home boys!

The Mayne Event Baby

This Thursday marks the 2009 NBA draft. Not that I care at all about the NBA, but its an exciting time for me. Its rare that I get excited about the NBA, but this is one of the few times I will be claiming a player. Eric Maynor is MINE. SHOT HIM. John, nice try, but you're late.

Maynor aka The Mayne Event was a big player for VCU, and led them the NCAA tourney twice. Yes, he led the team to the tourney, but he wasnt leading a team like Monmouth, or Cornell, he led VCU to a win over Duke, and a heartbreaking cloooooose loss to Pitt in the next round. Two years later, he almost upset UCLA, but the shot fell short.

I claimed JJ Redick, Chris "Birdman" Anderson, and Lebron James. I will now have a 4th player on my list. Eric Maynor. Whatever team is lucky enough to snag him up, that will be a team i root for.

Also of note, I cant wait to see who the New York Knickerbockers draft. I am hoping its Brandon Jennings from Europe. Jennings bitched out on Arizona, and went oversees for a year so he can bank some cash. I hope this kid sucks, as I am sure he will. I wouldnt be surprised if the Knicks mess their draft up and get someone out of left field.
I wont give a mock draft, as I loathe the NBA, and have no idea what teams needs are, but I am sure that Blake Griffin will go first to the Clippers. Ricky Rubio will be a player to watch, as no one really knows where he will land. A friend of mine is picking Jrue Holliday to the Bucks, we shall see if that comes to fruition.
Regardless of what happens, Maynor will be drafted, and prosper in the NBA. I hope.

Kobe Puttin' Me To Sleep

Fathers Day Sunday was a lazy one in our household. Crappy weather didnt allow for much to be done. I caught up on my DvR. One of the shows that I have been meaning to watch was "Kobe Doin' Work", the Spike Lee joint. To kill time before the Yanks start, I watched it, and let me tell you, IT SUCKED. I mean Spike Lee has made some awesome movies, and documentaries, but this one was awful. I think he just wanted the name Kobe Bryant in it, and figured it would be golden regardless. There was no substance, no comedy, no nothing. It just made me hate Kobe even more. It takes place during 1 game only. He is doing commentary throughout the game, and just comments on things that we are seeing, and things that he is thinking. This game took place over a year ago, no one cares. I thought it was going to be the life of him, showing him on and off the court. I was wrong. So if you have it in your DvR queue, dont watch it. You suck Kobe

State of Sports

Wow sports is draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagging right now. All we have to watch is baseball. Dont get me wrong, I love baseball, but when its the only sport to watch, it gets a boring. I want football. How many of my upcoming posts will be about this? Some football things to ponder though.

Where will Plaxico Burress play, if anywhere?
Will Brandon Marshall get traded?
Will the next Buffalo Bills/Cincinatti Bengals game be played in prison?
Will the Jets Defense be the best D in the league under Sexy Rexy? (YES)
What rookie will be the best? I think Sanchez

This season should be awesome. I cant wait. Also, to add to this season. Joining me in Section 320 will be Joe, and Anthony. They have season tickets the seats in back of me, row in back of me. It's going to be AWESOME. NoLa in 100

My Yanks are not playing as consistant as I would like, but I hope they turn it around as Carston Charles toes the rubber tonight in Florida.

Happy Fathers Day

Mr. Parziale is back. Remember him? He was efyousports.blogspot.com's first ever contest winner. Win a free post. Well, after contractual agreements fell through, we decided to cut ties, but he is back. This time though, he is posting from an unknown newsource. The Daily News?? Yea, never heard of it either. I just wanted to help a budding star shine. Check out his article. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more_sports/usopen_2009/index.html

Hip Hip Jorge..... Isn't Playing

Many of our devoted fans knew about the bet that Eric and I made. I obviously won that bet. Since then, The Yankees have been stumbling somewhat. Want to know my diagnosis? Of course you do.

I am diagnosing this disease to Jorge Posada. Prescription? More Francisco Cervelli.

Posada might be better offensively, but on the defensive side of things, he might be the worst of all catchers in Major League Baseball. On Thursday, Cervelli caught our Ace CC, and CC threw a gem. Yes, he got the loss, but that was also in part to our bullpen. CC threw 123 pitches, and pitched into the 8th, allowing 1 run until then. Posada catches Burnett/Joba/Wang and none can even go 5.

Friday night, Joba threw 100 pitches, Saturday Pettitte threw 103, both games caught by Jorge. Joba went 4, and Pettitte went 5. Today, although the game is only in the 4th, and the Yankees are winning 13-0, Cervelli is catching AJ Burnett, and he is throwing a gem. BTW, Cervelli has 2 hits.

If Posada is so much better offensively, how come we always lose when he catches? My theory is this: Posada scores runs on the offensive side, but, costs us runs defensivly every game. Cervelli on the other hand, calls a great game, pitchers love him, and sometimes he swings a nice bat. If Posada is even on the runs gained/allowed side, and Cervelli is plus 1 or 2, than why doesnt he catch more often?

Lets Go Yanks

Enough is Enough.

I don't even know why I watch sports anymore. Especially the fucking NBA. Just watching this Lakers/Magic series makes me sick.

The amount of sack riding for Kobe Bryant is unreal. How is it that he is able to throw a cheap shot elbow at Dwight Howard and say "Shut the fuck up and play." without getting a technical foul? If it had been Rasheed Wallace or Kenyon Martin, they'd probably be thrown out of the game. And towards the final seconds of the game, Kobe throws an elbow at Jameer Nelson, knocking homeboy to the ground and dishing it to Derek Fischer for a wide open dagger.

The NBA is bullshit. I'm done with this series. When does football season start? College or NFL. I don't care.

Until then, fuck the Lakers, their whole fake sack riding bandwagoners, Kobe Bryant, and his rapist supporting fanbase.

EDIT: I won't put all the blame on the officials. The Magic lost that game. There is absolutely no reason why at times Jameer Nelson and Air France should be leaving Kobe wide open from downtown and not putting their hands up. Unacceptable.

Mark Franchez is OFFICIAL..

So I drop a blog on the NFL missing in my life, and the heavens above have spoken. Mark Sanchez signs a 5 year, 50 million dollar deal. 28 million are guaranteed. I think its a fair contract in terms of football, and I am thrilled. I would have hated to have drama in the offseason, especially with a new coach.

This year is going to be special.

NFL, NFL Where are you?

Please start. I miss you. This is a loooooong offseason. How can you not be excited? Whether you are a Jets fan, a Texans fan, or even a Lions fan? Once the pads are strapped on, its Super Bowl of bust for any fan.

This year has been an even longer offseason for Jets fans. With the departure of Crybaby Coles, and Brett Favre, I am amped to start this season. We have D-Rex at coach, The Madbacker in te middle, and Mark Franchize behind center. The sky is the limit with this team. Our defense has improved vastly. In addition to Bart Scott, we took Jim Leonhard from the Ravens as well. Along with a trade made with the Eagles for Lito Sheppard. Leonhard and Rhodes should be head and toe above Rhodes and Smith/Elam. Hollywood will return to form this year, and BEAST. A rookie qb could be a difficult situation, but no such thing as a rookie from USC, they are all primed and ready to roll in the NFL. Just ask Carson Palmer. QB U. All I can say is LETS DO THIS!!!!!
My prediction is 11-5. With a Super Bowl Victory.
I am sure this is the first of many NFL blogs to come.

Lebron Snub??

What did you guys think of the King James snubbing after game 6? To be honest, in my opinion, what he did was fine. He was upset they lost, why should he go over to them and act fake? Like myself, Lebron is a warrior, a great athlete, and a fine individual. I dont see any reason for him to have to go over to people that just ended his season, and say "good series, and good luck".

When I was younger, and an A-mazing intraumural player, I was in various leagues. One team that comes to mind was the team of D-Rock, Scotty, and Myself + Kevin (but he doesnt read the blog). We looked and acted like we didnt belong on the court, but that was part of our game. We suckered teams into thinking we were trash, and then just ROCKED them. After the games we would have them salty losers come up to us, and congratulate us on our domination. We knew they didnt mean it though. They were just fake. They hated us, and we pwned them.

In the end, Lebron, you are right. When you read this, hit me up. I know you usually email me, bt toss me a call this time. We gotta discuss South Beach.

The Belmont Stakes...

Alright...I'm 0 for 2 in the 2009 triple crown races, and come Saturday night I don't see any reason I can't make it 0 for 3. The Belmont Stakes lacks a little luster this year, because no horse is racing for the elusive triple crown, but it is still the longest race of the 3 crown jewels (1 and 1/2 miles) and is considered the "test of a champion".

This years race has very little up front speed, so you may see a horse try and take the field wire to wire. Mine that Bird (winner of the Kentucky Derby, and 2nd in the Preakness) is the Morning Line favorite. As usual, I'm going to try and beat the favorite and see what happens.

With the way this race shapes up, I'm thinking that at the top of the strech heading for home it will be a 3 horse race with a few horses flying from the back to try and get into the money.

$1 Exacta Box: 1,2,4,6 = $12

$1 Trifecta Box: 1,2,4,6 = $24

Longshot to win: #3 Mr. Hot Stuff

Enjoy the races on Saturday, and good luck to all!

P.S.- Shout out to our boy Jumpoff J as Cowboy Cal will be racing on the undercard of the Belmont Stakes tomorrow.

USA! USA!

OK...now that I have your attention, the US Mens national soccer team is back in action tonight in a 2010 world cup qualifier. They are playing Costa Rica at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa. The US is 0-6-1 lifetime when playing AT Costa Rica, so this will be a tough test. The US would have to be happy taking a tie, and a win, while it wouldnt guarantee the US to qualify for the world cup, it would be a HUGE step in the right direction. As it stands right now the US is in 1st place, and Costa Rica is in 2nd in the qualifying group. Tonights game is number 4 out of 10 that will be played in this final qualification stage.
Prediction: This is an almost impossible place to play, so it would be no suprise if Costa Rica wins this game, but since I'm a homer I'll say 1-1 draw.

Phoggy Future

As I was perusing my favorite college basketball messageboard (http://www.caazone.com/), I saw that our beloved Hofstra mens basketball team will be making the trek out to Lawrence, Kansas. This is AWESOME. As a proud Hofstra alum, its nice to see us playing a quality opponent. No more wins over Longwood, and Stony Brook, those are madd Jeter anyway. Id rather lose to Kansas on national television, then beat Longwood. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, does it make a noise? If Hofstra wins a home game vs. Longwood, and you live in jersey, would you hear about it?
Next years schedule isnt out yet, but some teams are releasing their out of conference schedules, and this popped up on Kansas'. Through the grapevine, I am hearing maybe Syracuse, or UConn as well. Please get those teams.

I am pumped for this season. The Takeover is primed for a sick season, and I am hoping the incoming freshman dont suck.

I am sure you will hear more from me on the schedule in a few weeks when its released. Until then, Lets Go Hofstra

With Pride,

Do Work Son!

Well folks, I thought about not posting anything MMA related after my boy Sugar Rashad was fucking manhandled and mauled by Lyoto Machida. But I wasn't able to resist when I heard my homeboy Kimbo Slice was going to grace the Octogon once again. Well, not exactly.

Dana White, president of the UFC announced that Kimbo will be a contestant on next season's hit reality show"The Ultimate Fighter" on Spike TV.. Now if you weren't aware, when Kimbo first jumped into the MMA scene, Dana was talking a lot of shit, and highly critical in regards to Kimbo's new endeavor. But Dana is in the business of making money. The public wants to see Kimbo. (Or at least the Trio does) And believe me, I can see dude definitely bringing in viewers.

Now a lot of people are critical with this move, saying that Kimbo would get destroyed by "real" MMA fighters, and lacks the skill set to thrive in the UFC. Yes, maybe that's true. Maybe dude will get destroyed in the UFC. Maybe he won't even make the house. But how would we ever know if he isn't given a shot? If he does make it, good for him. If he doesn't, what does he have to lose? What does the UFC lose?

Either way, I think he should be given a chance. Some people fiend off the doubt of others, and push themselves to work that much more to make it to the top. Not saying that he's one of them. But I'm not doubting him either.

I guess we'll just wait and see. Until next time haters.

Holla at ya boy.

First in History...First in you heart...

The great state of Delaware, the first state for you history buffs scored a few major victories in the recent days. First off it graduated it's 160th class (special props to my sister who was part of the class of 09'), but more importantly it landed Elena Delle Donne.

Elena was the 2008 Naismith national high school basketball player of the year. She went to Uconn, and after only 2 days on campus quit basketball, and transfered to the University of Delaware. Just today, she decided that she wasn't quite done playing the game she loved, and she will be a proud Blue Hen come tip-off this season.

For us here at the University, it's not really a big deal. Top recurits are a dime a dozen. You may have heard of guys like Rich Gannon, and Joe Flacco thats how we got the nickname Quaterback U. Delle Donne is just the next brick in the wall here at Delaware. A wall that soon will host an NCAA womens basketball championship banner.

JJ Going Hollywood

His 3rd year in the NBA, and he is already playing in the NBA Finals. I can honestly say, JJ Redick carried this team on his back. He is such an influential player, and must be a huuuuuuuge locker room leader. He molds minds from what I hear.

Last year, when JJ and I had a convo in NY, I told him "Dont worry, it will work out next year." Fast forward 1 year, look at him. He scored big buckets in playoff games this year, started many games, and had his best year to date. I hope he doesnt send me a thank you card, as we are great friends, and thats just what friends do for eachother.

Redick called me last night, and asked if I needed tickets for the Finals, I told him thanks, but I couldnt attend this year. He told me he had saved me 2, but they have now been spoken for. If you are looking to hit up JJ for tix, please know, he has gotten rid of his allotment.

Thursday night, JJ will have his game face on, gel in hair, and will be hosting a trey fiesta. He is quite the party planner. Just ask Erin Andrews.
