epic FAIL!!!

As the Fantastic Foursome (Mikey Fells, Scott, Jumpoff J, and myself) head down to Richmond tomorrow evening, we will not be traveling down with the Lions Den. To those of you who dont know who the Lions Den is, let me explain. The Lions Den is a group of rabid college students jumping up and down, and screaming at the top of their lungs for their home team THE Hofstra Pride. Now, some of you might ask "Brian, how come the Den isnt going down as well, havent they gone down in past years?". My answer is a simple Yes. If it wasnt for Hofstra taking us down to Richmond, how the hell would i have been so keen on the idea of going down this year?

In the past 4 years, we have gone down to the tourney 3 times. My 1 year hiatus was last year, and that was due to me being a graduate, and scrambling to find a place of employment. I found my job in early January(thank you, thank you), and I felt it might have been a little too early to take a day off for basketball. Ok, sorry, back to the point. Last year was also the first year we had a new Athletic Marketing director at the helm. We didnt even field a bus to go down. The previous year, we had 3 damn busses. I feel there is no need to mention his name, since he is worthless, and i would rather not give him recognition. Elect Me Athletic Marketing Director.. Cmon now.

This year, I have heard through the emails that he sends me, that the trip will cost 100 dollars a student, and they get 50 back if we lose round 1, Friday, vs. UNC-W. That basically says, that if we win Friday, students are paying 50 dollars a head to stay in a room with 3 others. Does that make sesnse? Are they staying at a hotel that cost 200$ a night? If so, Hofstra, please reconsider your athletic spending money. Seriously, great idea nameless asshole. Why not ask poor, jobless college students to pony up 100$ for a trip that has been free, or less then 40 dollars in all years past. Arent we in a recession? Arent things cheaper? Why is this so ass backwards?

So here's to you Hofstra Athletics. Way to shit the bed.

Oduya do ya do ya wanna dance...

The New Jersey Devils continued their winning ways this evening with a nice win up in Toronto. They led 1-0 on a beautiful David Clarkson goal for most of the game, when the Leafs tied it up, a perfectly placed one timer by Patty Elias gave the Devils a 2-1 lead, and on a 2 on 1 break with just seconds left in Overtime the man Johnny Oduya buried the game winner. The Devils earned their 86th and 87th points tonight, and are on top of the Atlantic Division...Marty Brodeur got himself another win and is now only 3 wins away from tying the all-time record.

It's now 10:24pm eastern standard time, and the Rangers still suck.

We Doose Work, We Does Work

Bart Scott the "Mad Backer" and now "The American Dream" Jim Leonhard? YESSSSSSSSIR..

What an offseason for the Jets, As a fan I couldnt be happier. Well thats a lie, but, I am so excited going into next season. Jim Leonhard is a huuuuuuuge upgrade over Eric "I Suck" Smith, and Abram Elam. AE came up big at times, but over the course of the year, he wasnt the best. Bart Scott is a tremendous player ready to bust the ef out, and will really help with the linebacking core.

Another great addition was Lito Sheppard. Dwight Lowery was sufficient at times, but the times where he wasnt sufficient, he was flat out doooooodie. Maybe Lowery can play some nickel package?

Our Secondary will be off the meat rack next year. Revis and Sheppard on the corners, with Hollywood Kerry Rhodes, and Jim Leonhard serving as our safeties.

Our Line Backers are Calvin keeping the Pace, D-Bo David Harris, The Mad Backer Bart effin Scott, and Vernon Gholston. Gholston is still verrrrrrrry crappy, and un-proven, but an offseason with the Mad Scientist Rex Ryan might do wonders for that boat load of shit.

Our D-Line is above average as well. The ends are good, not great. Dont get into a snowball fight tho, or you might get roughed up. Shaun Ellis will literally smoke you in one of those. KenYon Coleman is decent. The man in the middle who holds it down though is All Pro, Kris Jenkins. (he waved at Eric and I in Tennessee.. no fanboy).

Our defense is flat out better then yours.

A Little Hate Goes A Long Way

A few of our loyal blog readers might know how I feel about Arizona State, and their fans as of late. Let me refresh many of the newbies to our blog. A few weeks ago, Arizona State ranked 14th and the time and home, beat Arizona. Now, I know what all 9 of you are saying, "Brian, thats not a big win. Arizona State was supposed to beat them. I mean, hell they are 14th in the country while Arizona is unranked, and on the road. My blog was more towards ASU fans who rushed the court. Who rushes the damn court, when you are home, ranked 14 in the nation, and beat an unranked team??? Act like you've been there before. You have cost your loyal team, the wrath of Brian

Fast forward to today. Arizona State is 0-2 since that blog has been published, and I couldnt be happier. As many of you dont know, my resume lets people know that I was a winner of Jody's Pool. How many of you know what that is? Oh, only 3? Well, let me explain. Jody's pool is the jumpoff of NCAA pools, and only experts like myself win. Picture Me Rollin'!!!!!

This is why the NBA is wack. The best college basketball player of all time, is not much of a star in the NBA. I know why he isnt a star, but im not sure I should say it here. Ef it, its my blog. He isnt as good in the NBA because of reverse rascism. His coach Stan Van Gundy plays Rafer Alston, Anthony Johnson, and Courtney Lee because they are'nt white like King JJ. SVG needs a wake up call, and put JJ in at all times. I understand that DH-12 is a decent player, but Redick is the anchor of that team. People look up to him. Just the other day, Hedo came over to him and asked him what it was like to be with EA Erin Andrews. Redick simply replied "it was nothing my dude, been there hit that". Later in the day, again he was approached by a rather new Orlando player, and that was Skip to my Lou, Lou asked, "hey king, what was it like taking massive craps on eveyone in the NCAA", to which Redick replied, "it aint nothing my dude, i have the strength of a condor".





So yea, with all the people coming up to JJ in the locker room, and outside the gym, it can be a distraction for him. Let him be, and he will simply rip chain.

Bring on UNC-W

The matchups are set, and we drew UNC Wilmington. Friday afternoon, 2:30, its going down. Jumpoff J, Mikey Fells, Scott, and myself will be in attendace at the Richmond Coliseum for this matchup. We will be jumping, please believe.

Yesterday, Hofstra defeated UNC-W in OT at "The Macka" in blah Long Island. We blew a 14 point second half lead, but in the end, we won, and thats all that matters. The Takeover scored a career high 35 points, and was off the meat rack once again. This was only the start of a long CAA day for us though. In the second game that mattered, we had Old Dominion going up to Mathews Arena in Boston*. We needed Northeastern to pull out a win here, and it was looking good until the final 8 seconds went ODU nailed a trey bomb to send the game to OT. Obviously, you know what happened from there. ODU won, sending Hofstra into the 6 seed. At that point, I was happy, since I would rather have the 6 seed over the 5 seed. Third game of the night was Drexel and William & Mary. We wanted Drexel to win at this point, so we had an easier path to the Semis, and get the 6 seed. So like a true curse that I am, Bill and Mary won. FUCK YOU.

Whatever happened, happened. Ya'll know how we do at Hofstra. It aint never easy, but we keep fighting, and thats what we are going to do starting Friday afternoon. We love going to the CAA Tournament, and are ready to ball out once again this year.

Townes, Takeover, Ziggy and Co. come prepared, cause we sure are. We dont wanna leave till Monday night.

*Boston is gay.

This is obviously a Sports Blog, but wow I have to write about this movie. Last night I saw "Taken" w/ Liam Neeson. It was the jumpoff for real. I was seriously staring at the screen from start to finish. The last time i went to the movies was in April, to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall. So for me to go to the movies, it must be a special movie. I didnt even see Batman in theatres.

I knew what was going to happen at the end, but still wanted to know how it went down. Liam Neeson is a bad ass dude.
